Argust 8th is coming!
Join us for the eigth annual "Take your Argus Camera With You" day!

August 4, 2008

This Friday, 08/08/08 is the eigth annual 'take your Argus camera to work (or anywhere else you go today) day.'  Are you ready?

You can shoot any camera from any era as long as it was originally marketed by the Argus camera company.  From those great American classics made in Ann Arbor to the new Bean digital, it's all good!

This year a new Argus Day page has been created on the flickr photo sharing website.  It provides a consistent look and interface for the current year and all prior Argus Day photographs and when completed, it will have pre-sorted sets that will allow viewers to quickly view photographs by year, by photographer, or by camera type.

Although the site is still being populated with prior year photographs, you may preview it now and view the complete Argust 2nd, 3rd, and 4th galleries.

So, get ready to make this the biggest Argus Day ever.  If you have questions or want to provide feedback, please email us at argus_day@yahoo.com

GOOD LUCK!

July 21, 2008

Friday, Argust (August) 8, 2008 will be the eigth annual World Argus Day.  Lovers of vintage American made Argus cameras are encouraged on this day to carry their favourite Argus camera with them and to take photographs with it throughout the day.

You don't need to be a member of any camera club or group and anyone who participates may submit up to two photographs taken on Argus Day to the online gallery.

The rules are simple:
  • Load your favorite Argus camera with film and carry it with you on Friday, Argust 8.
  • Encourage others (family, friends, coworkers) to use your camera and explain to them the history of classic Argus cameras.
  • After Argust 8th process your film and submit two jpegs of your favorite photographs to me at argus_day@yahoo.com.  The jpegs should be 600 pixels on the long side.  Be sure to include information on your subject matter, the camera used, and what Argus means to you.
  • You may shoot ANY subject matter and you may shoot color, B&W, slides, whatever you like.
  • Photographs will be published periodically as received on the official Argus Day website.
  • Please spread the word and do not hesitate to contact me at argus_day@yahoo.com with any questions.

Have a great day,
James
